(Center Moriches, NY) — Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck announced that its successful year-round summer respite program will be open again this year for campers with physical and mental disabilities. A special respite weekend will be held on August 6-8 for those ages 6-21 years of age.
In addition to the respite weekend, Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck features eight individual one-week sessions during the summer to campers ages 6-21 through the dedicated support of volunteers, Rotary Clubs, and community organizations. Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck is a resident summer camp designed for young people ages 6-21 with special needs. Its mission is to help children and adults achieve equality, dignity, and maximum independence through a safe and quality program of camping, recreation, and education in a summertime environment. Throughout the program, campers participate in typical summer camp activities, such as arts and crafts, talent shows, cook-outs, swimming and boating. Registration for the summer respite program is $350. There will be 50 spaces available for the weekend. A staff of five counselors and the camp’s nurse will also be on hand. Check-in time is 7 p.m. on Friday and check-out time is 3 p.m. on Sunday. For more information and to register your child, call (631) 878-1070 or visit www.camppaquatuck.com.
